NEWS AND UPDATES

OUR SIGN IS BACK!

Between Saturday, February 8th, and Sunday, February 9th, an Apartheid-Free Church yard sign was spray-painted with a swastika.

The sign is now replaced! This incident strengthens our resolve to do justice, working for freedom and equality for all people.

PRAYERS, PEOPLE, INLET

6 people from TGUC joined over 300 people at the ‘Prayers, People, Inlet’ gathering last weekend. At the invitation of Tsleil-Watuth ceremonial leader, Reuben George, we joined our prayers with people of faith and goodwill across many traditions and spiritualities .

There will be more opportunities coming to join this powerful multi-faith, multi-cultural movement. Stay tuned!

LAST CHANCE TO JOIN THE EASTER CHOIR!

TGUC’s first “pick up” choir will be singing two songs during the Easter Sunday service on April 5th. If you’re interested in joining, please email the office or speak to Darcy or Sandra on Sunday.

SUNDAY SERVICE

Sunday, March 1st at 10:30am

This Lent, we follow Jesus from wilderness solitude to life-giving community, discovering who we are and who we belong to.

Presider: Rev. Sandra Nixon

Scripture: John 3: 1-17

FOR YOUR ATTENTION & ACTION

TGUC’s Pledge as an Apartheid Free Community includes “… to join others in working to end all support to Israel’s Apartheid regime, settler colonialism, and military occupation”

One way to do this - Support Boycott and Divestment Actions (click on images for more info about BDS).

During Lent, we will provide examples of both successful and on-going BDS campaigns. This week:

Boycott Ahava cosmetics

Ahava cosmetics is an Israeli company that has its production site, visitor center, and main store in an illegal Israeli settlement in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Boycott Reebok

Sportswear brand Reebok is the main sponsor of the Israel Football Association (IFA), which includes teams in Israel’s illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian land.
