FOR YOUR ATTENTION & ACTION
TGUC’s Pledge as an Apartheid Free Community includes “… to join others in working to end all support to Israel’s Apartheid regime, settler colonialism, and military occupation”
One way to fulfill our commitment as an Apartheid-Free Community is to support Boycott and Divestment Actions. The 3 demands of BDS are that Israel:
1. End its occupation and colonization of all Arab lands and dismantle the Wall.
2. Recognize the fundamental rights of Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality
3. Respect, protect, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties as stipulated in UN resolution 194.
During Lent, we will provide examples of both successful and on-going BDS campaigns. This week:
Air BnB and Booking.com
Airbnb and Booking.com list illegal settlement properties as Israeli rentals on their sites. These properties are built on stolen Palestinian land.
Those settlement properties are a war crime under international law. Escalate this BDS campaign to pressure both companies to end their complicity by signing the pledge as an ethical traveller.
