July Community E-News
The last two lines of Mary Oliver’s poem are the most famous. But the heart of the poem is in the question, ‘What else should I have done?’ What else, that is, aside from paying attention, falling down into the grass, being idle and blessed?
In a world where we are encouraged to imagine a ‘life well lived’ as one that is “productive” and busy (even if that busy-ness includes the pressure of having a fabulous and fancy summer vacation), my hope for you this summer is that you may discover some of Mary Oliver’s way of praying.
We slow down in our programming over the summer months, but below are some summer events coming up at TGUC, and ways to stay connected throughout the week. May your summer days be blessed by the enormous eyes of grasshoppers, the soft fragrance of cedar, the salty embrace of the ocean waves, and the abiding love of the Creator of it all.
