This week at ‘Faith Outside the Box’, we will commemorate the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation by watching together the documentary, “The Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking the Domination Code”.

The documentary is the collaborative work of Dakota filmmaker and Director, Sheldon Wolfchild, and Co-Producer Steven Newcomb (Shawnee, Lenape), and exposes how centuries-old Vatican decrees justified the seizure of Indigenous peoples’ lands and created a “domination code” that still influences U.S. and Canadian law.

It is a story of historical truth, spirituality, and resistance, told on behalf of the original nations.
