We are delighted to welcome Chef Izzeldin Bukhari, a Palestinian from Jerusalem, for an intimate community gathering. Izzeldin is the founder of Sacred Cuisine — a practice rooted in the history, stories, and centuries of knowledge woven into Palestinian food.
His journey began in 2009, when living in the United States he found himself unable to find hummus that tasted like home — like the hummus a five-minute walk from Jerusalem's old city could offer. That absence became a calling. He began cooking, discovered the meditative power of the kitchen, and came to understand how food appropriation and capitalism can strip a dish of its nutritional value and sever it entirely from its cultural heritage.
Sacred Cuisine is Izzeldin's response: Palestinian food offered with its story, its narrative, and its centuries of knowing. In a time when millions in Gaza — including his own family — face starvation, he continues to share this food as a moment of awareness, a moment of responsibility, and a recognition of what is accessible and what is being taken away.
Come and dip with us. Hear the stories.
Bring your family hummus
We invite you to bring your own family hummus recipe — and if you would like to bring a bowl to share with the community, you are most welcome. Every recipe carries a story. We look forward to tasting yours.
Registration
This is a private event for the Palestinian and solidarity community. Registration is mandatory. We need to ensure we have enough seats and dipping food for everyone.
